The 7th Daily Readers “Read Out Loud” Final Competition, organized by KEA Learning International Ltd. and sponsored by Smart Education Charitable Foundation, was held at the Lecture Hall of Sheung Wan Civic Centre on 13 April, 2013.
TVB Jade interviewed some of our winners in their programmes to share their experiences in the competition
“After School” interviewed two Gold Award winners, Yuen Sze Nok from Methodist School in the Junior Primary Section and Shum Cheuk Yiu from HKMLC Wong Chan Sook Ying Memorial School in the Senior Primary Section.
Yuen Sze Nok told us that he practised the poem with his parents at home. His parents gave him some advice for improvement. “When you go on stage, you should try your best to perform. The most important thing is to enjoy the process. It doesn’t matter whether you win or lose,” said Sze Nok.
“I read through the poem before practising. It is important to understand the meaning of the poem. Then, use facial expression and voice projection to help you express the feelings. I am so happy that my teachers and parents gave me a lot of advice and support in this competition,” shared Cheuk Yiu.
“Cultural Engine 4U” Shum Cheuk Yiu from HKMLC Wong Chan Sook Ying Memorial School in the Senior Primary Section and Mehmoona Abid from Buddhist Sum Heung Lam Memorial College in the Junior Secondary Section, came first in the competition.
“My family and teachers encouraged me to join the “Read Out Loud” competition,” said Cheuk Yiu. She shared with us that her mum read bedtime stories to her when she was a child which developed her great interests in storytelling and recitation. She has been participating in recital competitions for three years. She shared with the audience that it was important to perform naturally but not
exaggerate when reciting poems.
Mehmoona Abid expressed that entering to the top 3 was not easy. “I can share my feelings and thoughts from reading aloud the poem. webhosting info . Joining “Read Out Loud” Competition enriched my school life,” said Mehmoona.
