Improve students’ reading and listening skills

How can Daily Readers improve students’ reading and listening skills? “We would first ask student to listen to the read-aloud audio recording, and complete the comprehension exercises. Then, we ask our students to read the passage so that they have the opportunity to practice both their listening and reading skills.’ said Ms Fan. She also indicated that scanning and skimming skills should not be neglected either. It helps students read quickly and accurately.

Daily Readers: GPS for students’ writing

Ms Fan also shared with us how the extended activities of Daily Readers Plus help to enhance students’ writing skills. The pre-writing task asks students to focus on vocabulary learning. Then, they have to make use of the vocabularies they have learnt to form sentences. Students should then be able to express their ideas clearly and they will write a passage and practice their writing skills. In addition, Ms Fan thought that the liberal studies tasks can improve students’ critical thinking, information technology and problem solving skills, as she notices that students are now more confident to express their ideas.
